The beauty of bespoke wedding cake design is that everything is possible and any request can be accommodated. Every cake here has it’s own unique story and every new couple has their own unique requirements so we don’t expect you to choose from a limited range of cake designs, rather we will talk to you about your inspiration and together design a cake just for you. Wether this might be something like we’ve never done before or we take inspiration from one of our previous designs it will have to be the cake you want. This personal service means that the customer’s requirement always takes precedence and the design of the wedding cake can be truly bespoke. Get in touch with us today to get closer to your dream wedding cake!
This is where it starts. The initial consultation is where we get to know each other a little better. It is a no-pressure, no-commitment casual chat and the idea is to determine whether I can meet your expectations. We will discuss your wedding, availability and review ideas and inspiration. By the end of our chat, you’ll be able to decide whether you would like to move to the next stage. If so, a 50% holding deposit will be payable to secure your desired date and we will schedule our next appointment. Typically, we hold a further two consultations and a cake tasting. See how this works below.
The Main Consultation (Virtual)
We revisit the discussion about your ideas for the design of the cake. The flavours, size, colours and the important features you’d like the final design to include. This is where I answer any questions you might have about any aspect of the process and shortly after I will present you with a sketch of the final design which you are able to make changes to up until the next appointment, the cake tasting. This is also where I present you with our contract.
The Tasting (In-person)
This is likely the first time we will meet in person, how exciting! Even more, we get to eat cake and chat about all the progress on your wedding preparations. Planning a wedding can be stressful and sometimes you just want to vent and have some cake and champagne, this is that! The tasting is open to the bride or groom and one other person, usually the future spouse, mother of the bride/groom, MOH/BM or wedding planner/coordinator. All cakes are baked fresh and the list of flavours can be found elsewhere on this page. This appointment is booked for an hour and can only be moved one time if unable to make the first agreed date, please let me know as soon as you can if you’d like to reschedule. By the end of this appointment, we will confirm the flavours and make final adjustments to the design. The final payment will also be made at this point.
Final Consultation (Phone)
So we’re nearly there now. I will give you a call a couple weeks to your wedding date, just to check up on you and confirm details of your order. If working with a planner, I will have this discussion with them and it is just to ensure we’re on schedule to proceed. We will confirm logistics, weather forecast and contingencies if needed, the last thing you need is to have the cake-lady calling you a few hours to your ceremony.
Delivery and set-up
A paid delivery service is available and especially recommended for weddings and cakes over 2 tiers. I can deliver anywhere within England. I normally will endeavour to be on-site a couple hours to an hour before the reception start time in order to set up and be out of the way in as little time as possible. This will be agreed on during our final consultation.
Please note the final price is determined at the end of consultation and will reflect the desired end-product. The below is a range of what you can expect to spend depending on number of servings regardless of design and flavours, with the highest end being the most detailed or personalised. I prefer not to limit my creativity to a figure, so I encourage you to give me your biggest ideas first and we can work down to the range you are most happy with.
A serving is approximately 2x2x4 inches, also known as a finger serving. Minimum number of servings is 20 and maximum number of servings is 250.
20-50 serves – £180 – £280
60-80 serves – £300 – £420
90 -130 serves – £480 – £560
140 – 180 serves – £720 – £860
190 – 220 serves – £980 – £1,280
230 – 250 – £1,320 – £1,520
NB: Servings vs Tiers – The size or number of tiers do not matter as much as the number of servings. I have created large single tier cakes for the same amount of servings as my two tier cakes. I have also created multiple tier cakes (which include dummy tiers) for a couples that only required smaller numbers of servings but wanted the grandeur that came with the multiple tiers.
